Full hydro would only be specifically illegal on Michigan and Tennessee. Most other states it would be at the law enforcements discretion. Never narrow an axle, just run 5"+ back space wheels. You'll turn a full width almost back into stock width without any of the work. For trailer only rig on a budget I would just run single ended full hydro with a tie rod. Eliminating the steering box and drag link is awesome. I just bought an orbital direct off PSC for $260. Get yourself a ram, build some mounts, have some quality lines built, and you can even build your own reservoir out of aluminum if you have the resources

I saw a picture of your steering and it looks to be completely stock... Your jeep looks built on top, but whoever built it cheaper out on suspension and axles.

I was informed that if a state has motor vehicle inspection a vehicle will full hydro will not pass. To pass a state inspection you have to a direct linkage as a fail safe.

it's all important, and all needs to be done. I guess since the steering still works and you just trailer it start with the suspension, then steering, then axles or if something breaks in the process fix that when it breaks.

I use the EMS off road hydro kit on my wrangler with 37's and 1tons.
I got the ram from "trail gear" , ones hose taps into the top of the steering box cap, and the other hose goes into an extended front cap on the steering box. setup worked great for hydro assist and YES, I could push the rig away from a building with the steering. (just checking it out)

No no, no steering box. Orbital, ram, tie rod, pump, reservoir. It's basically full hydro but instead of buying an expensive double ended ram and figuring out how to mount it to your axle you instead have a single ended ram and drag link. No steering box anymore
Ah ok I'm assuming the pump is belt driven also I wonder if anyone has ever used an electric pump so you could still steer with ease when the right is not running

never heard of anyone using an electric pump. sounds like another point of possible failure to me, and probably expensive
