Default How small is too small?

I wanna do a cowl snorkel like some of the guys on here have done but I wanna know what size I should go with 3" or would 2 1/2" be fine? I'm an electrician and there is always extra PVC over on the job sites so no matter what it's not gonna cost me. I wanna go as small as possible without restricting airflow

Internal diameter at the throttle body end of the hose between it and the stock air box is about 2 7/8". 3" is the smallest practical size to maintain that level of air flow... also standard sizing for PVC and ABS pipe
