6.5" I feel stable vs clearance it is the best choice.

but it comes down to how much you want to cut away (I know it is not that big of a deal in your case).

the reason i say 6.5" is play in the rocks... 6.5" is the happy medium to keep your skid plates from scrapping ALL the time and it is stable.

btw this is also 6.5" (altho on 40's).

T&T Customs has their Project Low Wagon. 37s, less than 5.5" lift and plans to go to 3" or so according to their build thread. (See here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1032532)

This set-up they wanted 3" but had clearance issues. I followed it's build on Pirate..

For me 37's on 4.5 to 5.5 is where I'd aim to be.. Low CG is where it's at..

I missed that part. Ahh here it is: "Our ultimate goal of 4" didn't work out as we were unable to get decent uptravel in the rear with that short of a setup. We decided to leave it at the 5.5" height it was previously which is still fairly low for an XJ on 37's"

Personally, I'd rather have 33s and 4.5" lift than 37s.

i had 33s and 6.5 on this one. probably guna swap tires over to my dd and run a 5.5 on it. this one i just want to be big and bad. i got tired of breaking the d30 so wanted to go bigger axles. bigger axles means i need bigger tires to get my axle to ground clearence back. hence 37s
