When building a bastard pack, what's the best way to make those silencers to help quite a bastard pack? I want to know before I start my lift next weekend. Thanks.

 

When I've built them we just used a grinder to make the edges round on the leaves we cut and they work fine.

 

Are you talking about the little plastic pieces that go between the leaves? If so I've also been wondering where I can buy those for when I build my bastard pack.

Yes, I'm talking about those little plastic things. I may try to drill the leaf springs and use those plastic interior trim pieces too.

 

Ive heard of people using garden edging cut up...

 

I am putting mine together now. I sprayed all the leaves with "rust-to-primer," sanded and then rubberized undercoat.

 

Those are some great idea's. I might try them both! I'm doing the lift next weekend. But I'm assembling the AAL/Bastard pack Hybrid this weekend. I'll let you know what I decide and try to post pics if it's something good!

its a super tough, hardcore plastic, look here for a description

 

I ended up using Felpro rubber gasket material from Advanced Auto parts. I bought two rolls (one for each leaf pack). I cut them in 2.5" strips, the full length of the roll, inbetween each leaf. Quiet as a mouse and cheap too. I just hit the leaf springs with a wire wheel ONLY on the heavy rust. NOT enough to make them not rusty. Great so far.
