+1 to the other guys, it really depends on the leaf springs you're adding to. I read about someone who figured out it'd be cheaper for him to get new OEM leafs and get an AAL to accomplish a lift. Individual spring quality aside, the only difference between that and a full pack is you did the final assembly instead of a factory worker. But if you have major sag then a single strip of metal isn't really going to do anything for worn out crap springs. If you're somewhere in the middle though, you can add an extended shackle like someone else suggested, which can net you greater articulation.
I wondered about that - site seems decent but I don't hear of many running them.

I went with rc aal and am not happy with the ride. No sagging, just the wrong 'feel' to the ride. I regret it. Take it for what it's worth. I will buy spring packs soon. Been on aal for six months

the biggest cause of a bad ride with the AAL is that the leaf eyelets get pulled together. this makes the shackles angle very bad, close to 90° in fact... a shackle relocation will fix that

Don't mean to steal the thread here, But I am looking to go about 2inches for a lift (96xj). I know I need new leafs so I was thinking about going with an AAL but after doing some reading I'm hearing that that may affect my shackle angle? Should I just get a fresh set of leafs and then get a kit with new shackles?

What I am trying to point out is that AAL flex just fine, mine will flex even more than that if I let them... a bump stop would help me a lot! I also have homemade shackle relocation (added like 1/4 or so of lift)
My guess is most of them tightened there shackles in the air (maybe the control arms (in the front) too) Or even just tightened the shackles too much.
I know the guy doing the 30° RTI ramp said my XJ scored really well (for an XJ, lol)
