Would that ever cause fogging too? Not much of a science guy at all here...so just curious.
But awesome modification right there. What temperatures does it run at now?
And for anyone else looking into these hood scoops, Autozone and those places have different styled ones online as well.
I'm sure this thread will open up some new fabricating threads and different scoop designs!

Yup, I'm looking for mine already, I want something more square and a Lil bigger to match the boxy lines of my XJ... And it needs to be about 6" wide each for the fans I'm Gunna run... I want to pull out as much air as I can. What would he really sick is if I could find ones with louvers that open with air flow and close when it's off

Looks great!! I had considered these same vents/cowls before going w/my vents/louvers. The only 'concern' I had w/these was the 3M tape only holding them on the hood. I know the stuff is good, but I like a little bit more such as screws or rivets. Had I been able to figure a way to rivet these to my hood I'd have the same set-up as you...
Amazing how much heat comes out of the vents/scoops on XJ's ... the surrounding part of my hood is almost cool to the touch but the louvers I think I could grill a steak on...

thanks for the great idea!! i have been wanting to do something like this for awhile now. went to autozone today and picked up these
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...uestid=2812874
little larger than the op and after lying them on the hood i think they'll look great. putting the final coat of paint on in about a half hour. i'm hoping to have them on tomorrow night, once its done ill post pics. also my local autozone had them for 32 a piece not 39. a little pricey but i think it will be will worth it once its done. to the guy that said something about only the 3m tape holding them on that is a concern of mine also so i plan on running some silicone around the edges on the inside just to give it a little something more to hold it down. i also worry about the heat and what it may do to the paint or the plastic so i also plan on putting some kind of stick on heat shield on the bottom side.

well i got them painted but they are not finished yet. i still need to cut the holes in the hood and mount them. i used the dupli color white and it matched until i clear coated them. now they are a little more yellow than the hood. here are some pictures so you can see how it will look once they are done. thanks again to cranesrule for the great idea i think ill like these better than the lebaron louvers

Now thats pretty sexy! I think Ill do this one.
Anyreason to rip off the hood liner though? I really like my paint and want to protect it as much as possible.

I don't know if it helps temps or not, but it couldn't hurt. And my hood is cooler with vents and no insulation than it was without vents and with insulation.

Thank you Sir! Yeah I had a indepth conversation with a buddy this weekend in regards to heat displacement and the conclussion we came to is pretty much just what you have done while installing more electric fans and deleteing the clutch. Anything to help move all that nasty heat is definately gonna help.
