This is big for guys in the drifting community. I've never had issues with heat in my car so I've never needed to do it but this company sells fancy billet kits for Nissans. Surely they'll work for the XJ's hood. Anyone know the threading on the XJ?

does this effect the hood latch any? i want to try this, may just go with some washers for the time being. do you put the same amount of them on both bolts per side, or do you put more on the furthest back bolt than the front one?

1" will get the hood up off the rubber seal by about 1/2".
I did temp measurements with several digital thermometers before and afterwards and it definately made a difference, like 20-30 degrees underhood temps both driving and sitting.
Pull a bolt and go to Lowe's and get one 1" longer, it's METRIC, and a stack of washers, SS if you have the $.

When I had hood spacers (which don't do much and look super funny), for some reason, it was a lot harder to pull the hood latch cable. Now I've taken out those silly spacers and put in some hood vents. Hood latch is now back to normal. Never lookin back

I just put my original spacers back in after making a set of 3/4"x3" ones. Made the hood too high for my tastes. Got mine at 1/2". Removed the rubber seal and bumped that shelf down a bit full length for even gap all along the opening(I can still seal it if needed). Adjusted the hood all the way forward and all is good. Hood latch works as normal.
I don't know what the max temp gets to under the hood but I can tell you it cooked the clearcoat in the same spots on both sides after taking the pad out that's under the hood about a yr ago.
I may go to louvers at some point.

done
I know people on here have done this before (raise the back of the hood to let heat escape, kinda like a cowl hood), and have seen some Jeeps at shows with this done, just kinda looking for some info on it though, so I dont have to do trial and error.
How long and what size bolts do you get?
And
How many washers do you get?
