As stated I have the chrysler 8.25 27 spline in my 94 cherokee. does anyone know if know if a higher gear than 3.55 is available? I have done alot of perfomance mods and drive it mosly on the highway and even with the aw4 torque converter locked in od i dont need gears so low. Heck I dont even need first gear. already have 235/75/r15 tires. any opinions?

 

Could you elaborate on performance mods? Im unclear on what your asking..

 

3.07s came with the manual transmission.

ac system removal-alternator relocation, mechanical fan delete, k and n intake, 62.5 mm throttle body, 99 ported intake manifold, 2.5 inch exhaust, pacesetter headers, 24lb fuel injectors, msd ignition coil and wires, .045 gapped spark plugs, accumulator mod in transmission, and alot of weight reduction are the main things. I want better gears for highway gas milage didnt know they came with 3.07s maybe thats what i will look into cant get bigger tires since i dont have it lifted nor plan to.

 

I gotcha. Yea i guess snag some axles off a xj with 4.0 engine and manual tranny. They would already have the 3.07s. Personally i wouldn't think 3.55 vs 3.07 would make a.dramatic difference. Buts thats just my $.02
