Default higher speed steering responce after lift

I have been driving on the highway more often and i notice that at higher speeds then 50 when i steer right or left on a turn the steering wheel moves faster the then the wheels. Could this just be a need for a steering stabilizer or do i need to get another alignment?

yes get it aligned. after lifting the caster will go negitive making steering quicker. you'll get used to it.

People often say replacing a stabilizer when there are other issues is a band-aid. I bring this up to say... If you were to have a part go bad, would you rather have the bandaid there to not make it as bad? I'd say it can't hurt to have it thee, and I would personally never drive a jeep without a stabilizer on it.

good point, its a pretty cheap part so i mite just get one, plus it is suppose to ease the wear on the steering components, whats a good brand for a stabilizer?

On the other hand, anything that goes bad that a stabalizer will sufficiently band aid could also be dealt with and driven with no stablaizer. I can't think of any issue that a stabalizer would make the difference between drivable and not drivable. Any catastrophic failure that will disable steering will do so with or without a stabalizer.
That said, I do not think it is a bad thing to have. I don't have one only because after my axle swap, there was not a lot of room for it - I had one welded on, but it promptly broke off in the cold weather.

If you have the mounts there, you might as well have it on

^ Very true, I just meant for the infamous Death Wobble that TOO many people think it is the steering stabilizer, and it does appear to stop it, for a little while, then it slowly comes back. You know what I mean? Pretty much all i can say is i'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. lol.

I can understand both sides of the arguement here, but here's my question... what's the benefit of REMOVING the stabilizer?

Look at almost any heavy lifted vehicle... they have stabilizers on them. A friend of mine that has been building trucks for years and is also a fabricator/welder has 38" tires on his 86 chevy and he has 3 stabilizers on the front axle... there has to be a benefit to having it otherwise they wouldn't sell.

from what I'm told, they keep your jeep from drifting when the tire finds its way into a rut or bump in the road... and keeps your steering wheel from feeling like it's jerking around in your hand

anytime you change the height of your vehicle, you need to get an alignment.

^ and 3 stabilizers makes me lol. there is no benefit to that. thats the same things as saying you need 4 shocks per corner.

I'm just telling ya what he told me.... my whole point though, was they have to be there for a reason otherwise, people wouldn't use them on trail rigs... a lot of suspension lift kits have the option of upgraded stabilizers... I'm not saying it's going to solve the problem that was mentioned in the first post of this thread, but removing it isn't the answer either
