I said temporary- its just for a week or so. I wouldn't recommend this as an real solution. I plan to get some small u-bolts to hold it down onto the roof basket crossbars, or if I get a new tire carrier/bumper next week like I am planning, I might mount it on the tire support bar.

Lots of great ideas!
Here's my take on Hi Lift storage. It's strapped down securly and easy to get to. I still have room for a small cooler with lunch etc in it. I can go get groceries too. My XJ is my daily driver. I have installed 7 tiedown D rings with grade 5 bolts through the floor board to keep things in place while wheeling.
Check out the bumper here

I flipped the back seat up. Gavethe tunnel a couple love taps with a BFH and threw my high lift in. Closed the seat and boom. No rattles, no extra mount. Takes up zero extra space
