I was looking into HID kit before coz even with the silverstar sealeda beams it seams like i can only see upto 50ft ahead. Instead I upgraded my sealed beams to the h4 housing with the s10 blazer wiring harness and 100/90w h4 bulbs..for as little less than $80 it is over 10x brighter.

If you want really bright lights I would recommend getting the HID's. I got the Delta H4 kit with xenon bulbs and was disapointed with the light output. Better but not great. You could do and upgraded wiring harness witht the H4 conversion and get better results.. as for myself.. I got 4, 100 Watt spotlights

What's the details on that upgraded harness? Is that something you can buy, or did you throw it together?

The right way to convert to an HID setup won't be easy, or cheap. But the outcome is well worth it in my opinion.

First off, there are no magic kits out there that will include everything you need in order to have HIDs. You have to piece together everything yourself.

You will need the following:
  1. A set of 7x6 H4 housings off ebay for around $20
  2. An HID kit (with ballasts and bulbs) preferably a D2S kit with 4300k-5000k. Any color temp higher or lower than that will not be as bright.
  3. A set of bi-xenon projectors from Theretrofitsource.com. I am running the Morimoto Mini bi-xenon D2S projectors from them and they're awesome.
  4. Projector shrouds (optional, but they add the finishing touches IMO)
  5. Clear silicone sealant
  6. Two sheets of Lexan Polycarbonate
  7. Sheet metal screws
  8. Foil Tape
  9. Weatherproof butt splice connectors
  10. EPDM rubber D profile weatherstripping
  11. A Dremel with cutoff wheels
In total, it should all cost you around $300.

Here is a how-to writeup of an XJ projector retrofit: http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoBiXenonProjectors.htm

ok, so I really like that a couple people are throwing you towards norcal cause their H7 HIDS are awesome. I have their 6000k setup with the angel eyes and I love them. as stated before, if you are looking for high and low beams, go bi xenon, but I wouldn't buy a kit. I would retrofit them and that's a whole nother ballpark. if you have any questions on the norcal's, shoot me a PM, but let me just say, I won't go back to stock bulbs and I don't care that I have to swap bulbs for my inspection, once a year.

Please don't add HIDs to a housing not designed for HID. It will brighten up the road, but a lot of the light will be wasted and people driving past you and in front of you will hate you. You can always tell someone with HID in a regular housing by the terribly annoying glare.

Super bright headlights like HIDs, are great when used with projectors.
It keeps the glare down and allows for a more focused beam down the road, not in oncoming drivers' eyes.

Agreed. I usually purchase or make my on projectors for my cars. I really like having hids. But only in head lights with projectors. They have a nice cut off and won't blind everyone. I'm currently looking for one more 4 runner headlight with a projector so I can start my custom Cherokee projectors.

Make sure you're grabbing HID projectors, not halogen projectors. I had halogen projectors for a while and they sucked *****. Now I have the Morimoto Mini bi-xenon HID projectors and they're amazing.

You don't have bi-xenon HIDs unless they are in projectors with a "flip down" cutoff shield.

Do your lights stay on after you shut them off ?
