Hey guys/gals,

Looking to get a dece hi-lift jack for my XJ. I've been told to not mount it on the front or back of my Jeep because when you hit something, you bend the jack, and its useless. Any good ideas on where to put it? Ive thought about rigging something and putting it on my roof for the cross bars, but I wanna know what y'all have done. Show pics, give descriptions, etc... Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

If you have a 48 inch jack http://www.riverraider.com/store/Hi-...ift-Jack-Mount I rather keep it inside the jeep out of the weather and less likely to walk off on its own.

 

I like that mount option. And I agree, too many thieving *******s around here

 

You can mount it under the rear seat. It might require you to massage the floor slightly.

 

That inside bracket seems nice but $75 for two little brackets seems a bit much.

 

$75 for a bracket that can be made in 20 minutes lol. I'll stick to under the seat.

 

I keep mine under the seat 99% of the time. When I go wheeling I throw it up on the roof.

 

By keeping heavy items off the roof you can keep your center of gravity (COG) low. I keep the jack and spare mounted flat on the bed and all of the tools and spare parts (axle shafts and stuff) bagged and strapped down behind the seats. The floor mounts that I used are at Home Depot, put extra large washers on both sides of the floor board when installing.

 

I saw a picture where somebody drilled a hole in each of the factory roof racks and bolted it to them. Obviously you don't get the protection from the elements up there and have extra weight there but it's an easy option.

With that being said, I'll probably put mine under the seat once I relocate my amp. I'd love to try and cram a hi-lift and axle shafts under there, but I've never tried to make it fit

I hope no one pays $75 for that bracket....Could easily be made for next to nothing.

 

Thats what I was thinking. The inside is out of the question for me and I haul my Great Dane around with me almost daily.

 

Cool, I'll pay you next to nothing to make a set for me.

On the roof rack when im wheeling, across the back the rest of the time. I have the 60" jack and my XJ is only for wheeling.
