Default Help with steering linkage

Hello everyone I have a 2001XJ with a 4 inch lift and riding on 33‘s I am looking to do WJ front disc conversion. I currently have a heavy duty Y style steering set up my question is can I still run the Y steering? set up or will I have to go to crossover steering? Just trying to figure out what parts I have to source and how much money this project is going to cost.

Yes, you can still run it. But the best thing to do is get yourself a right hand drag link. a tapered insert so you can flip to the top of the knuckle and then you will have it The tie rod mounts are a little low on the WJ knuckles

It will work, but crossover steering is one of the biggest benefits of the WJ swap. IMO its definitely worth spending a bit extra for it.

Bear in mind though that if you use the upper steering arm to have cross over steering, you will need to do some major work so your track bar will be installed properly

Very true. I was thinking an OTA track bar would be required either way, but I suppose it wouldn't with the Y link.

Wait you mean the xj will have to set up correctly after the steering is messed with.

I found wj and xj tie rod height to be nearly the same wj 1/4" lower if that.

Wj crossover steering is one of the best Upgrades that can possibly be done to the xj. I could care less about wj brakes. Definitely not all theyre hyperaktiv up to be.
