Same exact thing happened to me on the trail. Luckily one of the guys had a spare ball joint, so we ended up changing the ball joints and axle shaft right there.

It wasn't as off camber as yours, but we did winch it to a tree for stability. Dragging yours, as is, could trash the "C".

It's hard to tell how off camber it is, but I would try to stabilize it with another jeep winched to it, jack up the front right to try and get a jack stand underneath the axle. Then do the fix.

I'm in Glastonbury. I can come out Sunday to take a look if you want.

I have another set of axles to put in it I was waiting till something broke to put them in. Instead of wasting money on balljoints just to get it up to the house I think I'm going to swap out the whole front axle where she sits.

So after calling around a few places I can get a upper and lower ball joint for around 45 for both. So I think I'll be swapping them out tomorrow if the parts store is open and I call get ahold of a press. And just throw in a axle shaft. And run it till it breaks again.

That sucks.

I have a question about your XJ.

Did you paint the rear windows, or was the glass removed and metal plates put in their place?

The kid I got it from took the windows out and riveted metal in there and painted it. I hate it you can't see at all out the back. Waiting for warmer weather and they are coming out and left open.

mudslut...make some lexan windows, hold them in with 1/4 turn fasteners and just get some stick on weather strip that way you can have removable windows...actually don't be surprized to see a fab thread this summer from me about that

Hey man I saw your thread for wheeling there and I thought maybe I could help out. I have a ball joint press, and lots of other tools as well as experience with these Jeep things. Shoot me a text 860-575-4601.

finally got it fixed and out this afternoon put new balljoints in it. actually went together a lot easier than we all expected it to i think it was harder getting it off the rock it was stuck on than fixing it lol. huge thanks to gorillaskater, wickedxj, and ct67 72 for coming outnand giving parts and helping to get it together and out. so now shes out will be ready for the wheeling this coming weekend hope we get a good turnout.
