You pulled the tire and drum and pushed in on the axle shaft? That should move it in enough that you can grab it and pull it out

I feel your pain.

I installed my Powertrax without issue. Later, I bought axles with lower gears already installed and had a terrible time getting the c-clips out of the first axle when I swapped the locker from one axle to the other.

I tried screwdrivers, magnets & compressed air. I finally gave up, walked away, and gravity made it fall out.

Good luck man.

yes they were, have installed these before, my father is a mechanically engineer so was taught always check the surfaces of metal for any inperfections in the metal before assembling

With the slot facing down, grab the axle flange and rapidily move the shaft in and out. If you have a spare disk brake rotor mount it backwards on the axle so you can get a better grip.

If you did de-burr then listen to WHATEVER Frankz says. If he says grab a 5lbs sledge and give it a whack do it. (dont do it). Hes a great guy with tons of info.

I spent an entire night trying to get mine to drop, same as the OP. I finally got pissed enough that I started slamming the axle shaft back and forth...and cursing violently. I believe it was a combination of the two that actually caused the c-clip to drop out.

Glad u got it out. It broke? Just turning it by hand wont lock it up everytime, or at all it has to have enough pressure to ride up on the pin. If you put the two drivers together u can see the hole is egg shaped for that reason thats how it works. That is why a hardened pin is suggested. what broke in it? did u get a pic?
