Help with OME Leafs?
Hey guys I am looking at buying new leafs, coils, and shocks for a 2 inchlift. My leafs are flat and I figured id get new OME leafs to get 2 inches of lift. Should i get the light load or medium load leaf springs? i think i read somehere the heavy duty gave 3.25 inchs over stock and i couldnt find anything on the other two loads.

did you go with the HD ones? I'm thinking on a 2 inch lift as well and was looking at OME 2" springs.. don't know much but was thinking in getting the medium load ones and 2" springs on front instead of spacers, help appreciated!

I just installed some HD OME 2" leafs a month or so back. It gave me exactly 2" of lift but I also have a large drawer system, spare, and sub mounted in the back.

if you go heavy duty it will sag less in time if you do not load alot in the jeep however the con to it is you will ride stiffer in the rear and yes usually ome is atleast 1.25 inches taller than advertised only because people always get upset when there 3 inch lift becomes 2.25 after the springs break in

The HD springs are the lightest rate springs of the three options (light duty, medium duty, heavy duty). They are heavy duty because they are a dual rate spring. There are four leafs and then an overload leaf that doesn't even do anything until the suspension is compressed far enough to engage it. Lood at this pic...
The spring rate for the initial compression of the spring is actually lighter than the light duty, so it gives a softer ride. Load the back up with a bunch of stuff or a trailer and you're still okay because you get down to the overload spring.
As far as height goes I'm sitting at exactly 2" of lift. I put the springs on a year and a half ago and while they were a little higher to start off with, they settled to exactly 2" (I just went out and measured to be sure). I don't carry a bunch of heavy crap around all the time either. ANY new springs are going to sit high until they break in and settle so don't expect to get your correct lift height right out of the box. If you do, you're going to be disappointed when it sags 6 months down the road.
I love my setup. While it doesn't ride like quite like a Caddy on pothole roads I can drive 40 mph down trails that would beat the living crap out of any regular truck. Here's a video I took running a snowmobile trail in upper Michigan to give you an idea of how the OME suspension rides. Video doesn't really do the trail justice; sorry for the poor quality, I'm still working on the mounting system.

In the major settling I was referring to competitor springs I personally have not had experience with the ome hd leafs I did however own a 4 runner that I put heavy duty coils into it was rough ride. I'm running ome medium rate in my Cherokee love them and prior to axle upgrade only settled 1/8 inch. Didn't mean to confuse but I am in no way talking talking bad about ome them Australians know there stuff

OME Springs
I recently put OME Leaf pack, coils and shocks and they are great. I agree with BotaBing, call Dirk at DPG Offroad, he is awesome on XJ knowledge.
