Default Help with new coil coil spring perches.

I recently bought a 99 xj. The coil sprng perches were shot. Very badly rusted. So I bought a set from rustys. So I cut what was left of the old ones off. And welded the new ones on. My question is the new perches are flat. Unlike the stock ones. And the coil is not flat. Is the something else I need to hold the sping right ? Also the stock clip that bolts down and goes over the sping is that all I need to hold it in place. ? Somehing just doesn't look right. Thanks. I' having outher problems but one thing at a time. Any help would be great. Thanks Bill.

are you talking about the indentation for the coil spring to fit into? you dont necessarily need that.

the tab that goes over the spring was mainly used during assembly to keep the coil onto the axle. most upgrade those because they arent very durable.

Since the aftermarket perches are not stamped steel, they are flat. They do work, although I like the stamped steel perches better. The stock clip should work, or you can fashion one or even an extra one for it. I realize they may not seem substantial enough. The biggest problem comes when you run a shock that us too long for the coil and allows the coil to rattle around under full droop. Looks cool in photos, but does not serve any purpose. There should be a little pressure holding the coil in place at full droop

Also when I lower the jeep down on it's wheels the spin hits the track arm mount. I have a adjustable track bar and mount on there way. I'm hoping the new track bar will fix the hitting problem. Any help will be great. Thanks.

Not to veer off topic but, you might want to upgrade that tracbar frame bracket as well.

I noticed that as well. Looks more like rot, than rust. And the driver side endlink needs to be tighter.

Those Rusty's perches are built stupid, as almost all of the aftermarket ones are. I think it will probably be fine, but it may pop the retainer loose over time.

Change out that track bar and mount before it falls off and kills you or somebody else.
