Hello all,

I am looking for some help piecing together a 3.5 inch lift!I just bought my first xj (1991 with 72k miles) and can't keep my hands off any project. I have built other vehicles so I have no issues modifying. I will be running 32 inch tires and looking to do a 3.5 inch lift paired with the notch fenders. I enjoy doing long distance offloading/overlanding trips so I want the best on-road manners I can get with this lift (tie rod ends instead of heim joints, rubber instead of poly bushings etc.). Keep in mind, I am in Canada so ordering everything at once is way cheaper for me.

Below are my questions and below that is my shopping list:

What reinforcement brackets are needed? I will be getting frame stiffeners, track bar comes with HD brackets, I will make my own steering box brace. I can fab up my own brackets for other things if cheaper/won’t take forever to fab up.

Will I need the 2-3.5 inch jks disconnects or 4-6 inch since new suspension usually sits a little higher than advertised?

Should I get the doetsch 4 inch lift shocks? I am more interested in suspension droop than compression and would rather order these at the same time as everything to save loads in shipping.

Am I missing anything important from my list below?

I've never regretted replacing the Front Leaf Spring Hangers with aftermarket versions on either of my XJs... Ran the Mid stiffeners right over top...

Add a shackle relocating kit
I'd recommend that you add a shackle relocating kit for your rear lief springs

Iron Man 4x4 Fab makes quality products, I have the no lift shackle to get my geometry correct.

I have the stinky fab relocation kit in mind, I already plan on getting their 1 ton steering so might as well get from them too

I'll look into getting these, the stock ones definitely look flimsy now that I checked them out
