i want to preface this by saying I'm looking for the best price considering the actual CAD/US exchange rate and also the shipping prices to canada. there are other options but they're out of my price range because of those 2 factors.

i have asked in the past about the RE SYE for my cherokee and it was mentionned to me I should look into the IRO one instead.

here are the prices for these options:

Rubicon Express : best price I found is 150$CAD + 6$ shipping, so let's round it up to 160$CAD.

IRO : Last month, I was quoted US$49.50 for the shipping of their SYE which is US$99.99, so let's round it up to 150, and with the current exchange rate, that ends up being about 200$CAD

is the IRO worth the 40$ extra? if yes I'd like to know the pros over the RE. I have no experience with any of those, and by looking online each seem to have good and bad reviews (bad being "you should get a full sye instead, hack n tap will break",which is not an option for me)

The IRO one works out to be cheaper because you can use a stock front XJ driveshaft assembly which can be had from a salvage yard fairly cheap. The RE kit, you have to buy a new driveshaft wit the flat flange mount.

FWIW, when I did my '92 XJ, I used the RE kit with new driveshaft. IRO wasn't around yet.

i was not aware the front XJ driveshaft did not work with the RE one, that definitely changes things.

still, what's your experience with the RE one?

The RE was fine, no issues on my XJ with 33's, you still have to cut your transfer case shaft and tap it for the RE SYW flange to mount up. The thing is that the driveshaft is gonna cost around $350 for a new one that will work with it.

I think these are both going to be pretty comparable to each other as far as strength and durability. If you want something a little more heavy duty then you would need to look at the Advance Adaptors kit with a new driveshaft. That kit replaces the transfer case output shaft and housing.

yeah ideally I don't want to go that far. i just want to get rid of my t-case drop and even though I'm all for 'do it right the first time' it's not in my budget to get a 500$+ SYE. remember those prices are usually in US and still needs to be shipped here, so yeah.

thanks again, I'll probably go with the iro in order to use the spare front driveshaft I already have.

For what you want to do, I would agree, go with the IRO one, best bang for the buck.
