Default HELP!

So, i put a lift on my 2wd 99 xj limited 4.0L. Its only a 3" suspension lift. I only lost 3/4"-1" of my slip yoke. Turns out, i have a terrible noise coming from the driveshaft and/or my rear end. Its a 29 spline spicer driveshaft and a aftermarket c8.25 from a pick and pull or some sort from bonifay FL. I stay in tallahasse. Heres the deal. People are saying millions of diff things and i figured id ask yall since theres hopefully someone in my situation. It only makes the noise when i let off the throttle though. It sounds like an impact drill bottoming out. Like that BURRRR sound?

Thanks yall!

Whoa talk about a small world. I'm in tally myself. If you see a blue XJ running around, that's me.

Anyways, I'm running a 3" on a 2WD and have no problems with the drive line. I have the same rear end too. It sounds like something in your diff is making noise. Perhaps a bearing?

Also, join the Tallahassee Jeep Lovers group on Facebook. They can help you or point to someone that can.

That chattering sound you hear when you release the throttle is due to the slip yoke being out too far. Common issue not just for 2wd but also 4wd applications. My XJ did the same thing. Mine being 4wd, I tossed an SYE in and all was good. I would recommend shimming the rear diff to dial in your pinion and driveshaft angles. The goal is to get the slip yoke pushed in farther. It's also a good idea to rebuild your driveshaft after installing a lift.
