Question heavy duty steering upgrades?

id like for my 01 xj to have better road manners and im wondering what setups you all would recommend for my steering...ive upgraded to steering box to a durango box which did help but still with the 33s theres alot to be desired...so what do you all think? drag link flips? 1-ton steering? how can i get the most bang for my buck as well as a more pleasurable drive? i know these stock parts will break wheeling eventually plus this ****ty steering did play a large part in a accident i was recently involved in

Its probably wandering a bit and that is common with the stock xj steering with lift and big tires. The best thing he can do is get a 1 ton steering setup or do a WJ setup. I myself battled the long ruthless battle of steering with 33's and did the same thing, put a durango box in and it got a little better but still didn't feel right, then I purchase from Serious Offroad's Steering kit UTK and it was like day and night difference, and I just got done re-enforcing the steering box with kevins offroad steering support and its like driving a brand new car, 1 finger is all I need and bumps don't effect the direction one bit. I of course went a little crazy and put in dual steering stabilizers and the full Rubicon Express track bar setup (RE1660/1665/1670) And needless to say it has been the best investment I have ever done and I can probably run 35's or higher with this setup and never have an issue. Other folks sometimes never have to go to this extent and it works great while with others we have to spend huge sums to get a like new feeling.

There's quite a few posts on this and varied opinions of course. Sometimes it depends on setup and what the intended purpose. For moderate to DD I'd look into the Currie Currectlync or a OTK system as well as making sure all other components are in good shape, trackbar, anti-sway bar links and all bushings as well as ball joints etc.
As for a 1-ton setup, make sure to do your research on dead spot problems. Also make sure you post your choice and findings as well the help the XJ collective hive. and good luck with the build~

I have the Currie kit and it is way better than the Rustys that I had on it before. Both were better than stock (6.5" lift). Both still suck as well. The Currie is very very stout and easy to adjust but it is still a Y which at any higher lift heights still has a ton of play when hitting bumps. For lower lift heights, it would probably be great!

I am now convinced that the only way to go is doing one of the WJ swaps or buying one of the 2-armed knuckles that are out there. Ive driven my XJ at its current height for about 150,00 miles and all over the country but everyone else finds it terrifying to drive lol.
