Default Headlights staying on...

Okay y'all, new to this site. But been around Jeeps awhile. Never ran into this before and neither has anyone I've asked. I bought some hids off ebay for my 98. They were plug and play. Worked great the first two nights. Then they wouldn't shut off now matter what I did. I mean they stayed on 10+ minutes. After I cut the engine and lights off. Anyone have any ideas?

Those cheapo ebay hid kits can cause a lot of problems,Try putting your stock lights back in see if the problem goes away or stays. If the problem stays the hids might have messed up your headlight switch.

Yep yep. Those cheap eBay kits have been known to cause problems. They also put out a different kind of light and its blinding to oncoming traffic. I would just install a putco harness with some h4 bulbs

Well as soon as I hook the battery back up the lights come on high and lo so I'm going to assume I fried my switch. I won't be blinding oncoming traffic if I get them working right I have regular halogen lo beams and hid hi beam

Not using a projector housing with hids will blind people no matter what brand hids you use.

I think he is saying he won't blind traffic because his hi beams are hids, not his low beams. So theoretically he shouldn't have them on if he is in normal traffic.

i installed relays for high and low and ran plugs I cut off from a junk yard car. working for a few weeks now, just keep a spare relay in the glove box, and a extra ballast if you bought the cheapo ebay ones, I run them also, but keep spares. one ballast worked good for 2 months, another for 11 months and others for 2 years+.

Edit. Keeping a spare ballast is better then waiting a week for a replacement to come off ebay..

The fix was unbelievably easy once I did enough research. Apparently hids don't agree with the daytime running light module. Which on my 98 is under the steering column panel. Unplugged it and my problem was fixed immediately. Thank y'all for all your input!

Are you sure it was the dtr module and not the headlight sentinel module? I had a similar problem when I upgraded my lights and harness and the fix was to remove that module under the dash. I thought the dtr module was under the hood if it was so equipped..
