If it snapped off with vise grips/pipe wrench welding a nut on won't be much better.

Best off to drill it out.

i was just thinking the heat from the weld will probably break it free.

99% of the time when somone brings me something like this, I end up welding a nut to it concentrating the heat in the center, and then out to the nut. Let it cool by itself for a good 10 minutes or better, and they usually back right out with a stubby wrench.

well i might have to do that! lol. i dont have a welder tho so i might have to work on it after school in pre engineering.

I usually do at least 2 a week, be it exh manifold bolts, or rusty stuff, that almost always works.

alright nice. we also have a big ol propane torch that will heat it up,its what we use to cut through 3/8" thick steel.

If you have access to a plasma cutter you can use it to concentrate on whats left of the broken bolt and it should blow right out leaving the threads mostly intact...I would still chase with a tap though.

I had to do this on EVERY SINGLE ONE of those little studs when doing my lift kit, not much fun. I have seen it done with a torch but I am not that skilled.

well i think i am going to have to drill it out. my pre engineering teacher wasnt here today so i couldnt stay after school to work on it this week and i wanna get it done this weekend cus i dont wanna keep driving with one 3 outta the 4 nuts/bolts on.

I'd get heat on it before anything else.
Those extractors are good at doing the job most of the time, but if you break that in the remains of the stud you are in big trouble.

I have a Kawasaki head with a broken extractor stuck in it.
