No the 2.5l has completely different frame side mounts, different bolt pattern on the trans, and a ton of other differences. as far as just bolting in a swap there is nothing.

In 1987 is when they switched from the v6 to the 4.0L I6, the 4.2L AMC motor was never available in the XJ cherokee. everything pre 87 is a bastard to swap, unless your going 2.5L to 2.5L or 60* GM v6 to 60* GM v6. Unless you want to do fab work then i'd just sell your current XJ for one that is 87 and newer.

If electroincs would inter change from a 2.5 4cyl to the 2.8 gm is what I was getting at. A donor 2.8 would be able to supply hard part maybe even wiring harness. To get a 3.4 in 2.5 place. Depends on how far ya wanna go. Rock auto shows same frame mount for 2.5 and 2.8

I don't mind either buying a donor gm v6 complete car and then doing the swap. as far as i know its just the old motor mounts cut them off and then replace them with new ones in the correct position?? If i'm correct.

Rebuild and turbo charge the 2.5.

The 2.5 can't be any worse than a 22re in a Toyota can it?

I want to get rid of the 2.5l because the previous owner did a egr delete and cut away all the emissions and i'm moving to Idaho soon and they have stricter emission laws than oregon.

Northstars are junk. Engineering flaw with the heads.
