For 50 bucks I'd put it on and I'd drive it like I stole it till it broke.

Nope but I would on mine mainly since I have access to a lot of spare parts so breaking things doesn't break my heart. I build engines not cars now and we have a certain procedure that I and all my fellow employees follow no matter how useless it may be but that's a different scenario entirely. Now if you're done judging me perhaps you would like to refer to the OP's problem so I can go to bed

I would hope a pro would know how to set up a ring and pinion and not just throw it in and hope for the best. But what do I know I've only been setting up ring and pinions, using dial indicators and foot and inch pound torque wrenches no less, for about 15-20 years. Guess I've wasted my money on these tools and especially my housing spreader.

Yeah you sure did. I just bought a ring and pinion set for my Daily driven rear wheel drive TA that I spent ungodly amounts of money on. Just bolted that stuff in and went with it since us dumb cave men don't know ho to set up gears in our toys we try to destroy and don't care about. Can you smell the sarcasm yet? Maybe if it wasn't the SECONDARY drive axle of my TOY which I DON'T CARE about and don't have 3 MORE axles sitting around as SPARES then I might check the set up. Other than that I'm not gonna worry about it too much when I don't have any problems after the fact. (somebody must've missed my comment about my Silverado and thinks I just throw whatever in and run with it) I must be such a dumb A$$

Think I better get a digital 4 digit air gauge so I can get optimum air pressure in my riding lawn mower's tires

I still aint figured out what this dang little ball thingy in my bumper is fer. I think it makes the motor turn the right direction but I'm not sure. Maybe it's horn so critters won't run out in front of me since it is in the front bumper. Maybe I should get my dial indicator and micrometer out and measure the precise diameter of the dadgum thing so that these dang old birds will quit $hitting on my windshield

You wont be able to use your 4WD till you regear the rear. Unless it already has 4.10s

I'm glad you've had such luck but PLEASE don't ride any trails with me. I know you have tons of spare axles but I doubt you carry them with you and when yours breaks I don't want to be stuck behind you. And I actually ride in OK where your sig says you're from. Mostly Disney.

Well when my first front axle breaks, you'll be the first to know. I've only been throwing 4 banger gearsets in XJs for 8 years or so and it hasn't happened yet so you might be waiting a while
