Default Gear pattern check

1st time setting up ford 8.8 with 4.10 ford motorsports gears. Heres where i left off tonight. Is there a web site that shows pictures of gear patterns and then tells you what to change to go in the right direction? What do you think about current pattern . Any help greatly appreciated.

What's the current backlash?
Pull .010" out of the pinion shims and run it again.

Twist a shop towel around the pinion yoke to generate rotational resistance and you'll get a better pattern.

Backlash is .010 with a .030 pinion shim . So one person says add pinion shims , other says take away? Will taking the gear out of the mesh help at all or is a pinion depth only related issue

The pinion is too deep, so removing .010" will move it away from the ring gear centerline.

Add .004 to .006 to the ring gear side of the carrier and remove an equal amount from the pinion side to tighten up that backlash.

Ok so i took .010 out from under the pinion bearing. I also took away .010 from the pinion side of the carrier and added that to the ring gear side. ( didnt have anything thinner) . Backlash is at .009 and here is where im currently at.

Hard to tell.

Clean off the old marking compound and apply fresh. Make sure to wrap a towel around the yoke as previously mentioned.

Heres what i have. from what i've seen on the net, it seems i still have to go with a smaller pinion shim? Most setups run .025-.030. Im at .020, think its ok to go thinner?

That's what it looks like to me. Take another 5 to 7 thousandths of an inch out

See the straight line across the bottom, that tells me the pinion is still to deep.
