Default Gague for sheetmetal dash?

I am going to pick up sheet metal for my dash, but wanted to hear thoughts on how thick the material should be.

I was thinking either 16 or 18 gauge.

What would you use?

I would use 16 gauge because it is easy to weld with a flux core welder and it has a good amount of rigidity.

It should also be the same thickness as the floors...

Common parts are a good thing.

I'd probably go 16 for a little more strength.

Same here.

Which is why I said what I said. Having multiple things using the same material is nice. I can use scraps and such laying around if needed. Might get lucky somewhere. Hopefully.
