So looking at doing a full width swap under my 97 and was curious to hear what guys have been doing for brakes as far as master cylinder. I will likely look at a disc brake conversion for the rear.

Unless you are a glutton for punishment and have deep pockets don't do full widths. There are days I wish I had just stuck with 35s or built something else. That being said I use the stock master and it works fine.

The deep pockets is self explanitory. If you use one of the pre fab trusses it can simplify things but if not getting all the angles right can be a pain. People always recommend Ford axles, and I do as well due to the high pinion, but the brakes on older ones suck. My old twin calipers wouldn't clear my wheels and even if they had they tend to rattle and the flat springs pop out. It was a bad design when it was new. I ended up making some brackets based on Blackbirds design and now run Chevy 3/4 ton calipers. This and with bigger axles comes bigger tires which requires reinforcing the unitbody. It's like a big ole can of worms. Once you start you find there is so much you didn't think about and the interwebs help but still. Wish I had been on the forums I'm on now when I did mine. I would have NEVER used a D44 front even though it was basically free. Would have skipped the 30 spline D60 rear as well. Most people don't realize they have the exact same size shaft as a D44, mine doesn't anymore, went to 35 spline after several breaks.

depends on what brakes you use. if you run the huge *** dual piston fronts you get in 8 lug axles you need a larger master... one from a 2500/3500 2nd gen dodge works perfect. its "almost" 100% bolt in. google it, theres a write up on pirate. if you run 5/6 lug and use the smaller chevy stuff up front, stock MC is fine.
