OEM packs are nearly flat anyways...

measure from the hub (center of the wheel) to the bottom of the fender flare...should be 17" if is is much lower any lower than around 16.5 then you should consider getting a set that is in good shape used from the junk yard, or building a bastard pack using S10 springs

the bastard pack is what ive always had in mind. but $60 bucks for this is pretty cheap. plus i dont have the 'local junk yard' like everyone else seems to have...

I understand... it sounds like your plan is to get 2" of lift, right?

measure your leafs... if they are any shorter than 16.5" consider getting 3" full length AALs

Idk how much you think bastard packs cost but it cost about the same. $50 for junkyard leaves and $5 or so for a new center pin

oh yes i know theyre real cheap which is why ive always had them in mind. but see the thing is, im 17. and i cant find a damn job this summer. the thing with the bastard pack is than i have to get either new coils, or spacers.

my plan is anywhere from 2-3 inches. i was thinking 2" with 30s than when those go bad move up to 3" and 31s.

you can make a pair of coil spacers at home for $10 (assuming you can weld)

I do not follow your logic here. Bastard packs are cheap but dont have the money to do spacers so your going to buy a AAL

okay give me a run down on the bastard pack, ive never figured it all out completely. but where do i get the new center pins, where do i get spring clamps, i saw somewhere someone used pads for anti-friction, should i use these if so how do i put them on and where can i get them? i know these are a lot of questions but i have pretty much everything figured out but these questions.

Bastard pack, basically you take the a set of spring from another vehicle. A nd swap the leafs into and out of your stock pack to accheive desired lift. With a set froma S10 that anywhere between 1.5" and 4.5" of lift. To install you leave your main spring attached to the XJ and remove the other leafs from it. then you cut off the eyes on the donor packs and seperate them. Now you start assembling the new packs from the assorted leafs. New center pins can be had from Lowes or any parts store, spring clamps also.
