Not exactly. The 96 and older are smaller than the 97 and newer because they have different sized tanks. The newer will work on the older ones but not the other way around.

Well, I didn't know that was the case but I never really paid any attention to the XJ skids cause I bought a JCR Skid for mine

Is the skid plate from the Grand Cherokee (ZJ) a straight bolt-on or is there some cutting and drilling involved?

Any other skid plates from the ZJ that will work on a Cherokee?

Just a little bit of drilling from what I've been told. I wanted one made out of more than sheet metal so I used a Rusty's.

Just use your trailer hitch as a guide & drill new holes for the bolts.
