Default Fuel Cell questions

So after my jeep died for the 5th time in 8 months I went out and bought a 2011 Chevy Cruze for gas mileage and reliable transportation. However I am in no way giving up on my 96 jeep xj. Once the dealer calls me in the next weeks and tells me a bank has accepted my application and the payment trees all fixed up I plan on tearing my jeep down to its base and over the next year building it back up.

My first plan is to remove the gas tank, I have a few questions, what is a good fuel cell brand, and can I use a older style sending unit and mechanical pump system? I want to make my 96 as electronic free as possible, basically take the ECU out completely and go mechanical as much as I can. If possible, if not I will need to retrofit a 97+ fuel system because they don't make a sending unit for my 96 and I would rather use a different system.

It depends on what size fuel tank you need. I have a 16 gallon on my truggy(way tto big) and a 10 gal one on my chop top xj.. and then 10 gal was plenty for 2 days of wheeling.

You want to use a ford e2000 fuel pump. They are external mount.. and are easy to hook up. basicallly 2 wires and in and out for fuel. You will want to run a fuel filter between your cell and the pump. Also when you buy your fuel cell pull the foam.. that way it doesnt plug your filter or burn up your pump.

I bought the RCI Gallong with sump for my CHop top. MOst ppl run the 16 gallon upright rectangle tank.. I never took any pics when I installed it... as for which tank it was go to summit and search their fuel cells. The 10 gallon tank was like 160.. the bigger 16 gallon was 260 ish.. but that was because it has the GM sending unit for fuel level

Are you keeping it road legal? Also since you're ditching the stock fuel system...have you though about converting to propane? That would be pretty sweet
