If you want to take them all the way out. Put a wrench on top and reach into the wheel well and grab the top of the shock and turn.

Thanks guys, got them out. I am now tryin to get out the coil spring, I should just be able to jack up the other side, unbolt the spring retainer and remove it, right?

If you're running stock control arms then you might also have to disconnect the lower control arm to get the spring out without a compressor.

For the shocks, what I normally do is put a ratcheting wrench on the bolt and grab the top flat sides with vice grips. Worked every time for me.

x2, I always use a compressor now. I've had many people say just remove an LCA or both, or the TB...its always just as much trouble putting them back than using the spring compressor.

If you have some heavy duty straps you can use them to compress the springs

Use a spring compressor... Now with a spacer it will be that much less room to get the coil back in... I had a hard time with my 3 inch coils for some reason
