It's pretty bad you have almost no steering contol, in the snow you would be safer to just use 2wd

Sounds like a selectable rear and a lunch box front would be a good combo, cost wise for a DD, if the front only engages while in 4X4.

Yep, I wouldn't recommend luchbox in the rear. So yeah for a dd I would say either lunchbox/limited slip or lunchbox/selectable

The best set up for driving on snowy roads with an auto locker, [ either full case, or lunch box, ] and a selectable locker, is to have the auto locker in the rear and the selectable locker in the front.
This will let you run on snowy roads with your Cherokee in 4x4 and still be able to turn, a locked front doesn't turn well if at all on slick roads!

i used to think that way too. then it snowed i started driving around with my front OX engaged and laughed at how awesome my jeep drove. just dont make 90 degree turns in the snow with your foot on the floorboard... bc obviously then the front end will plow.

as far as I'm concerned, a locked front sucking in the snow is a myth. Just drive with your brain, not your right foot. Learn how your jeep reacts in those conditions. I have never once had an issue with an autolocker in the snow.

actually, if you are in a big open area of slick mud, it is hard to control, especially if it you have to stay on the gas to to keep from getting stuck. an example is Haspin acres in indiana, the parking lot is all dirt/mud, and after it rains it becomes a big soupy mess, and it is hard to control with the front locked

i know from personal experience

I use mine in snow daily. On roads and off. Works fine. Anyone who can't adjust their driving Is just a bad driver.
