Default Front leaf spring eyelet bolt snapped

So I’m doing a lift on my 96’ xj and the M12 bolt on the front eyelet of the rear leaf spring snapped. I was able to wiggle the leaf spring off… There’s about a quarter inch of the bolt sticking out. Could I weld a nut to that and then get it out? Or are there any other options?

You can try welding a nut to the stub. Do you have a torch? Those bolts more often than not are coated in red loctite, and need a torch to liquify that stuff. If you dont, you will most likely snap the nut off inside the frame, and you will have to cut a hole in the perch, just below the nut. It can be welded shut afterwards.

And take care of that rust while the leaves are out.

Weld a big ol nut on there that will get the bolt red hot then try to crank it out.

I'm not saying it will work for sure but it can work. I had to do it twice when changing my leafs

Update: welding a nut on there worked! It came out pretty easy being that hot and the welded nut inside the unibody frame rail is still intact
