Front end knockin
I have a 2000 xj with a 6.5 " rusty lift. Every little bump I hit my front end knocks hard. But at the same time I can hit a bump and my steering wheel shakes back and forth .... What do I do!?!?!

death wobble maybe?
sounds to me like you have a death wobble, which is caused by a loose front end part that allows the front axle to actually move side to side when impacted. most likely causes are the bushing on the track bar, or the joint on the other end; and the control arm bushings. Other possible problem areas are the tie rods, drag link, or ball joints/ wheel bearings; but they are less likely to cause a death wobble. The easiest way i have found to check for loose or worn parts when investigating a death wobble, is to lay under the car, while all 4 wheels are on the ground, engine off, and have some one shake the steering wheel hard side to side, quickly, while you check each joint visually and by touch. hope this helps, and hope you get fixed up soon! no one likes a death wobble.
