Ford dana60 front end W/manual hubs

im assuming bad hubs,but the thing is. it only happens when turning especially to the right its a very audible and steady "clank clank clank" until wheels are straightened. the hubs are FREE and front drive shaft is not connected and theres no apparent rubbing of the calipers or anything, as i said my thought is bad hubs but the last bad set i had on my ranger ONLY clanked if the hubs were not free but "engaged". need a second opinion and will post a video of this infernal racket later today if needed to help diagnose

 

just a thought but could they actually be engaged even though hub reads free? also idk if it matters but im running front leafs and full 38's, no visible rubbing on any suspension part or rim

 

Have you checked the u joints in the axle joint?

 

no but you may be on to something, sometimes from a dead stop i feel the axel turn about a 3rd before it thumps THEN begin to turn tires, as if the axels "catch up to the tires" before applying motion

 

actually that 2nd problem may be the drive shaft or transfer case "catching up" DANG this $ pit, but i adore the old gal haha
