I don't know if this is just how it is or if something is wrong but when I accelerate in FWD it pulls the wheel to the right and when turning under acceleration it jerks the wheel back and forth.

Would this cause squeaking also? Because I've heard a squeak at low speeds.

Yes it would. It could also cause a vibration though how bad I do not know.

The clips are on the inside of the ears.

If the joint on the axle shaft is loose at all it is dead.

Axle u joints are easy to replace. You can also upgrade them to the 5-760, iirc, spiders at one time. Those could cause issue when driving in FWD because now that those are the driving and steering wheels, the feeling is more pronounced

Interesting, I've never heard of a FWD XJ. 4WD sure, but FWD would be an oddity.

Just making sure, but you are talking about 4WD right? If so, this is pretty bizarre. Generally, you should experience the issues in RWD and 4WD since the axle shaft is spinning the same either way.

There are FWD XJs. I've driven one once. He's driving one. They're rare but there's a simple conversion kit. And although the wheels are spinning constantly, jerking working be more pronounced in FWD since there's now power going to the steering wheels. And yes, in 4wd the same should happen due to same concept however if he has a np231, he may rarely use 4wd unless going off road.

Yeah I only use 4wd off-road.

Yup. Don't need to remove hub. I did my driver side by loosening three torx bolts, calipers etc, pulling the whole axle out and changing then putting back in. I didn't do both like a dick which is now still on my too do list. Having the press makes it a 30 min job.

It's the right way really. Never know how long after you repair.one, the next one will crap out. Plus, OP, of you have any welding skills or if you know someone. You can do the full circle clip mod for the u joints so the little clip doesn't come out. I forgot exactly what its called but some booger welds and its usually good
