front driver caliper locking up ??
Hi I have a 1996 jeep xj on 33x12.5 15 with stock brakes disc frnt , drum rear in the last 12 13 months ive replaced the left front caliper 3 times . Not drive hard , 86 miles in 1 yr wondering if i missed something in my build ? to deal with the added weight and such on the braking . Any thoughts ? Thanks

Warped rotor? How do you know it's locking up? If it is one side in particular after three new calipers I think it may be something else. ABS system malfunction on that side?

As i was driving it got that smell , temp out left front caliper 650 deg. right front was 150 ish .let things cool down and drove it and this time while braking pull to the right and engine temp started going up i think do to drag from left front . Let cool down again and after 40 min drove it to house and it did not stick at all... change caliper and ran ok. no abs on jeep

Just thinking here, but I wonder if OP has a groove worn in the slide? My 95 had a problem with the left one, would get stuck and start to pull and heat up..

Correct, that is the fix.
Do not just grind them down without filling in with weld.

If it happens again change your hoses. Over time the hoses can brake down on the inside and a small partial inside can come partially loose and acts like a flopper valve or a check valve. It will let fluid go to the caliper but will not allow it to return. This happened to me twice and I was told about this problem and I changed the hoses. The problem hasn’t come back in over 3 years.
Just food for thought if it happens again.
Good Luck
