Default found another cooling issue HELP

after doing everything else to my 1999 cherokee now took it out for about 15 min, started smelling coolent and when I opened the hood found radiator steaming right at the radiator cap area new radiator and cap but it was steaming like over heating but temp gauge never got above 200 also when I start it jumps to 100 in about 20 seconds any ideas

yah i had that problem too did you do the rad yourself? also your t stat could be crap. but defs try burping your system i cant rember how or id tell u im sure other people could

One of the many ways to burp the system of trapped air would be to park in area with an incline and run the engine until it warms up and then shut off for a while. The trapped air will move to the front of the engine into the radiator and when the engine cools the air will be replaced with coolant from the reservoir.
Another way would be to park on an incline and remove the radiator cap. Run the engine for a while until the coolant starts to warm up (t stat opens) and then add coolant as needed.
When you purchased the water pump are you sure that the Auto parts store sold you a reverse rotation water pump?
There would be a small R on one of the impellar blades.
The radiator cap should be at least a 16lb cap.....
