An oem front might not be long enough. I don't know if a 242 has a longer rear output than a 231 though.

I have a 231, and used the Ford flange, and an oem shaft was a few inches too short. I don't know if using a strap flange would make any difference either.

Alright so sorry to keep this thread running on, to anyone who has done this swap.. Is it worth setting up the e brakes? I'll be running 35s with an auto tranny.. Think it's worth it?

yes. There's some steep inclines that I have to descend. I sometime put on the e brake handle lightly and go down slowly. It helps a lot, rather than just letting the front brakes doing all the work

Yea def. Some states require them working too for inspection I believe. I use the parking brake every time I park and the jeep isn't level.

I bought ECGS parking cables only to have to return them twice and still not be long enough. The wire was long enough but the sheath was maxed and left no room for flex.

So I returned everything back to ECGS and bought MORE cables for twice the price. Well they arrive and same thing. Cable itself is perfect length but sheath was too short for my lift height, they will work for someone with 6.5" or less in lift though.

I opted for Napa YJ cables. Cheaper, but a lot longer than I needed ended up zip tying them all over haha.

I have the MORE cables still if you're interested?

What do you all have? The 8.8 I have only had the e brake shoes, everything else was gone.

I though YJs had drum brakes. I bought a couple of cables from someone on the forum but the passenger one isn't even close to being long enough. There must be a stock option.

As far as I know they had discs. I used 2 passenger side YJ cables, Napa had their bucket sale going on, 20% off everything. I paid $60 for both the cables.

I did the loop method with cable clamps. You can do this same method with your 8.25 cable ends and it'll cost $1 for the cable clamps.
