Default Ford 8.8 4.10 LSD (D2)

How much should I pay for a ford 8.8 with 4.10 gearing LSD? I found one at a junk yard for $350 but have seen these going for $500-$600. What do you guys think?

Thanks!

In Nor Cal they seem to go for $300-450 range. At least in my area.

I was looking on car-part and they seam to going for $350-$500 for an open diff 4.10. There is one guy on Craigslist in Portland that selling 3.73 lsd for $500. I figured $350 is not to bad for 4.10 lsd now I only need to rest gear my d30.

I called the guy and he dropped the price to $300. Found a shop that will do the fab work for $200.

What tire size are you running? Id advise against keeping the 4.10 ratio, if you are running larger than a 31.

I am running 33's, but why would you advise against keeping the 4.10's?

I'm curious as well. I have 35s & it seems to be adequate. I do think 33 would be almost perfect, especially if it is a DD.

$200 to weld on spring perches and shock mounts? I'm in the wrong line of work. You might have 50 bucks in parts.

well its $20 for the perches, $25 for the shock mounts and $60 for install. So maybe I overestimated. But even if it was $200 the peace of mind knowing it was done right would be fine with me. Plus you can't put a price on top notch craftsmanship

Did you call any of the ones that didn't have prices listed? I got my D2 for $250, but that yard didn't list the price on Car-Part. Found another one with no price listed that the guy quoted me $175 for, but then it turned out that someone had converted it over to a four lug pattern.

What I did was sort by distance to see what was closest to me, then started calling the yards. I got quoted $175 on the low end to $650 on the high end and a lot of stuff in between, all within a couple of hours drive.

Because why spend the money for 4.10s when they are better options, such as 4.56 and 4.88. If the axles came both with 4.10 its understandable I guess.

Also 4.56 just puts it a wee bit over stock gearing with 33s, not sure why you would want less torque?
