Default Florida XJ in Alaska

Just found out my Jeep that has spent its entire life in Florida is being transferred up to Alaska in June for the next four years.

I have a smaller 3.5" lift and BFG AT's with a front locker. Anyone have any experience taking their rig to cold weather that can give me some advice? How will my locker handle the snow?

Contact Dumajones as AK is his territory. Sure he could show you a few spots to wheel and give you the best advice.

Cool,,.. I would look into getting a block heater when you get up there.. Dont worry about where to wheel you will be in prime wheeling territory.. Your locker will be find in the snow just don't drive like a jerk.

Okay thanks. The front locker was the thing I was most worried about. How hard are the block heaters to rig up? I have zero experience with them.

Block heaters are easy,, pop out freeze plug install heater.. With the front locker there will be times the front feels like its floating and will kinda get spooky,, Do not freak out, just let off the gas a little. I have never had any probs with front lockers. You just learn to drive with it in the snow,,a skill most ppl don't have..and its real simple..slow down dont drive like a jerk and you will be good to go

Cool. We probably have some similar acquaintances. I know a few people who were up there around that time.

Sounds easy enough. I'm a pretty careful driver, so hopefully I should be okay.

A block heater is a must and just remember slow and easy.If you ever drove on sand snow can be kinda like that.
