Default Flexplate replacement

Good afternoon so I just figured out today that I don’t have rod knock!! Instead my flex plate bolts have come loose. I tightened them up for now but I’m guessing the flexplate itself has egged out where the holes were, or is cracked. Either way I have a new flexplate coming in. My local dealership estimated 900-1100 in labor for doing the whole thing. My buddy has a cherry picker and we could do it, but my biggest concern is that this is a daily driver for me and my only form of transportation. Should I just have the dealer do the job and have the guarantee it wasn’t my fault if anything goes wrong or just save the cash and man up.

It really comes down to if you feel you have the skill, tools and ability to get this done on your own. Something we can't answer.

Is it still knocking?
Did you remove each bolt individually, wire-wheel the threads, apply LocTite to the bolts and reinstall?
If so, and there's no noise/knocking, I'd leave it alone.

I am assuming this is where the flexplate bolts to the torque converter. Those boltholes are oval to begin with. On mine, I put all the bolts in in the middle of the slot but loose. I then rotates the motor by the crank bolt in the normal direction until the bolts were now bottomed at the back section of the oval slot and then tightened everything up. 4 years in...no issues...This takes out any play in the oval holes if the bolts loosen. also do the cleaning and loctite trick
