Figured out what lift I have! And SYE ?
So after 9 months of owning my XJ now, I came across this:
http://www.quadratec.com/products/76190_801_07.htm
And I realized that this is the lift that I have, after thinking all this time that my lift was pieced together.
I now want to add an SYE badly (sick of these dang vibes). With this:
http://ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IROR&Product_C ode=IR-XHNT&Category_Code=XDT
I'll be using a refurbished front DS.
But when I replace my springs and leafs (not in the too near future), I am going to go to 4.5". So my question is, is that extra .5" of lift going to make it so I'll need a new driveshaft? Or does the front driveshaft extend and retract enough for it to work with the extra half inch of lift?

From everything I've read, it sounds like the typical front driveshaft has about 2 inches of room to compress/depress.
Good to know. When I go for the full SYE kit in the future, I'll be doing a custom driveshaft. But for now, I'm just going with IRO's hack 'n tap

I was just wondering if anybody could tell me exactly what that amount of flex was in the front driveshaft. In reading around, it sounds like it's about 2"-3"

I'm pretty sure it's more like in between 4 and 5 inches.
Three inches is looking like average, however I would assume the longer the drive shaft, the more travel.
here are some compressed lengths I'll keep looking .
