Default Extended idle 1996 XJ

The title says it all. Wondering if/ how to do an extended idle for a 1996 XJ. I've found a write up for a 97-01. Wasn't able to turn up anything for 96.

Would you happen to know what color wire that is? Hayes book is no help, and I keep finding conflicting results.

The more I dig the more I get, " I think it's grey." Or "I think it's purple with white or black." I just worry I don't want to go grounding out wires and fry my ECU, cause I'll be honest...

Does that harness break apart with no issues? I noticed the harness comes apart, just wasn't sure what I would find when I opened it up. Also nervous since it's my DD.

I don't think you'd have to do that. Just remove the tape and whatever else is covering it and look what wire runs to the pin you're looking for.
I'd have to go check mine lol

Yea the harness comes right apart once the tape is removed. After you find the right pin on the plug side its pretty clear where it comes out on the other side.
