Default Exhaust

What can I do to make my exhaust the loudest while still passing emissions tests?

Get something that performs and has the sound you want. Save your old exhaust for emissions. Slap it on when inspection is due. That's what I did when I lived in Massachusetts. Now I'm in Florida. No emissions or inspections.

Dont just buy a noisemaker.

there are more cheap ways than what I did but I have gibson headers, and a full magnaflow system (cat, muffler and tip). I wanted to make the the headers go into dual pipes but it would require installing more o2 sensors to pass va emissions. With that said my jeep is so freaking loud and everyone compliments me on how it sounds good and not crappy

grandfather has corsa and that sounds nice also but I like my magnaflow better

there is a vendor on here named mudfrog. aka performance-curve.com

if you are keeping the stock header then go to parts store and get a walker down pipe. then go to mudfrogs and get a high flow cat and a catback exhaust of your chosing.

I have a walker down pipe, my cat and c/b is from mudfrog and it consists of a high flow cat 2.5" in/out. intermediate pipe 2.5" with a flowmaster super 44 muffler. this sounds awesome and i just went through inspection with it and its a 2 year old system.let me know if i can help you any further.

Instead of the Walker downpipe get an exhaust shop to make you a new downpipe without the dent. Only cost me $40

Could I get pulled over and get a ticket for being too loud? I might just take it off and put it back on for emissions

Exhaust noise doesn't have anything to do with emissions. The cat does.

damn. i miss my softail and ridding for that matter.

yes. noise has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to pass emissions. its all about the cat and 02 sensor, etc.

Meh, mines hollowed and I just run a muffler and it's not obnoxiously loud. Have yet to get pulled for it.

Depends on the location of where you are. Such as Ithaca, NY has a sound ordnance of 90Dbs, I think. Some places like Ithaca have signs posted on the edge of town saying that. Wouldn't hurt to ask your local PD about sound ordnance.

In this part of the world they install cutouts, either electric or manual, it diverts the exhaust from before the muffler or cat and then with one switch bring it back to normal to pass emissions or to hide from the cops
