Default Eve vs dot truck-lites

Part numbers are as follows:

DOT: t/l27450c
ECE: t/l27490c

The dots are 200 a piece and the eces 170 a piece. From Amazon.

Anyone know if the eces are just as good quality?

I know they are the euro version. I guess my question is more: does anyone know why the euro version would be $30 cheaper than the US version?

I personally have a much higher opinion of the ECE standards, so I'd say ECE is inherently better assuming they both accurately adhere to their standards. Technically, if the ECE ones are not also DOT compliant, the ECE lights would be illegal in the states, but it would be undetectable, and I'd bet my life it would never be ticketed/enforced.

Just make sure whichever you get are made for right-side driving and not for countries that drive on the left--it matters...a lot.

That's the "wrong side of the road" version. Aussies drive on the left, right? Haha

The ECE code TL lights say "for left hand traffic". This means the cutoff is opposite of the DOT lenses. In other words you'll blind oncoming traffic here in the states with those lights. Also, you will not get proper illumination of road signs on the right as the cutoff will be below most of them. Spend the extra money and buy DOT lenses.

The ones I linked to in my last comment were for left hand traffic. The ones I linked to on amazon are for the rest of Europe. IE: right hand traffic, like here in the US. 95% positive on this. Either way, I'll find out tomorrow or Friday night and report back.

ECE doesn't necessarily mean they're for left hand traffic. Most of Europe drives on the right side just like the US.

You probably didn't mean to imply otherwise, but I wanted to be clear for other readers in case someone got the idea that ECE = left traffic and DOT = right traffic.

Opps, sorry. Yeah, I was going off of the second link. I'm sure you'll be good to go then, the RH traffic ECE lenses should be very similar to DOT. It is strange though, I know that BMW's adaptive LED headlights are ECE compliant and were not approved by DOT. I'm curious which one is more strict when it comes to light output and cutoff (or if there's honestly even any difference in the TL lights).
