do any of you guys know how to bypass the evap system on a 1990 cherokee. the jeep was running fine i took it out and pinched off my tranny lines i cut the pinched parts out and put rubber hose in place of them. i also replaced my valve cover gasket now the jeep wants to cut out after 15 mph. i looked for vaccum lines i might of pulled off but cant find any where i was working i had a friend tell me to bypass the evap system and ideas?

what do you mean by cut out? the engine is dying or the trans is slipping? the trans lines being smashed would cause you to have overheating problems with the trans and maybe slipping but should not have effected the motor running. you replaced the valve cover gasket that is where the problem no doubt hides.are you sure you didnt hurt the MAP sensor vaccum line? MAP sensor is mounted on firewall above the valve cover green plug with 3 wires into it.there is a vaccum line on the left side of the MAP that is plugged into the side of the throttle body.check it that could be the problem.its the only vaccum line that will mess with you like you are describing.GL..
