So I had my fuel gauge fluctuating for a while. Also been getting P0001 DTC and engine light
Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open
I did find the fuel pump plug dangling and hitting the rear diff and slight damage on the wire insulation on the fuel pump ground. I secured all properly and fixed the wounded wire.
Now the fuel gauge works perfectly but the code keeps coming back after a few minutes of driving after I reset it with the code reader.
Everything else works perfect.
Anybody has any idea.. Ive been searching high and low and I keep getting the same answer everywhere that this code is not even used in cherokees. Well it is on mine and the light is on. I tried 2 different code readers.

the regulator is right on top of the pump. Is it damaged? pin pull out of the plug maybe?

I decided to by pass the plug with the 2 sensor wires. This way I'm sure if the plug got damaged, it won't affect it anymore. When I went to reset the code again, it was already gone. I'll take that as a good sign.
I don't have to go anywhere (and have touch up paint drying) but when I do, I'll know within the first 5 min if I fixed it or not. I'll post results.
