Electrical problem 2003 Grand Cherokee CRD
Good day. I am a new member of this forum living in Dorking, southern England.
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD Automatic 2.7.
I am having a strange intermittent electrical problem and would be very grateful for your thoughts as to the reason why.
The symptoms are as follows; windows won't open or close, heating system is reversed (select hot you get cold, cold you get hot), electric mirrors won't operate and I also think the electrical seats start to warm up.
Engine runs fine and the battery is in good condition.
Look forward to your suggestions.
Regards,
George

Whew, you are having some issues.
Honestly, I'd start with the wiring diagrams.
If all of these symptoms started at the same time I'd attempt to find something that all of these circuits have in common.
Sounds like someone tried to jump start the battery backwards.

George,
I had same problem with my 03 JGC Ltd.
You will have a snapped cable in the wiring loom of the door.
Open the door and pull back the black rubber protective sleeve between the hinges. There is a thick black cable (3 or 5 copper core) this will have more than likely become brittle and snapped. Get yourself some new cable (a friendly garage will have plenty) and a couple of electric connectors (not sure what they are called. Small plastic with screws each end). Join up the ends and leave plenty of extra so the cable is not stretched.
That should do it. Mine has been fine for over 2 years since I did it.
Hope this helps.

This is the best advice EVER - my 2002 jeep was also behaving as if there was a ghost in the electrics. I was able to locate the snapped black cable and solder it at no cost. tHANK You - Jeep had quoted me an outrageous amount to do it.
